"Women in Business Cocktail Event" - Thursday the 12th of May 2016

Champions proudly sponsored and attended an intimate cocktail evening hosted by the Women in Business networking forum on Thursday the 12th of May 2016.

Presenter of the ABC's Four Corners program, Sarah Ferguson has uncovered some of the most controversial issues on Australian television in recent years – notably her expose on live meat exports to Indonesia, and her insight into domestic violence in the ABC's 'Hitting Home'.

Over canapes, Sarah shared insight into her new book, 'The Killing Season' - a behind-the-scenes look into her critically acclaimed 2015 documentary series of the same name. Examining the forces shaping the ALP during the Rudd/Gillard years, the series detailed the political intrigue and instability, providing compelling viewing for Australians.

Sarah reflected on Julia Gillard as our first female Prime Minister, and the often tricky relationships between politicians and the media.

Every guest took home a copy of 'The Killing Season' and a much greater appreciation for the challenges Sarah faced in pulling the series together, as well as those she has faced as a TV journalist - in particular, the difference in perceptions and treatment of female journalists both here and overseas.

"Western Sydney Young Professionals Event" - Thursday the 14th of April 2016

Champions along with Coleman Greig Lawyers hosted the latest event for the Young Professionals of Western Sydney.    The guest speaker was Deng Adut who is a Sudanese born lawyer who rose to prominence in the Western Sydney University's Stories of Unlimited advertising campaign.

Deng arrived in Australia at the age of 14 as a refugee.  He is now a successful criminal lawyer and litigator who is based in Western Sydney.  Deng recounted about his youth in Sudan where he was a child soldier and the difficulties he overcame during his time in Sudan and his arrival in Australia as a teenager.

He has achieved so much and made us realise that coming from humble beginnings or in his case growing up in war torn Sudan; if you have the mindset to achieve great things – great things can be achieved.

Mark Ciampi was the MC for the event which attracted over 100 young professionals from the local western Sydney community, illustrating the growth of this successful networking event.

"Women in Business Lunch" - Wednesday 2nd of September 2015

Champions currently had the pleasure of being a major sponsor and attending the Coleman and Greig "Women in Business" lunch on Wednesday the 2nd of September 2015.

The lunch celebrated women in business and featured Rachael Birmingham the best selling author of the "four ingredients" cookbook and naturally born entrepreneur. Rachael regaled her lengthy and interesting journey through her career and life in an engaging and humorous way. She explained how she had an array of careers all of which have helped shape her into becoming the highly respected business woman, mentor and entrepreneur she is today.

The lunch was a great success and raised money for Bravehearts, Australia's leading child protection advocate.

Champions was proud to attend along with staff and clients to celebrate the achievements of women and strengthen our networks by connecting with other women (and men!) in business.

These opportunities include becoming a mentor for the first ever youth-based program in Western Sydney! It was fantastic way to flex their business management experience and skills, as well as enjoy the personal and professional development that comes from coaching a passionate changemaker in the establishment of their venture. As well as engaging with the local community and improving on their networking and public speaking skills by becoming a panellist at an open forum in Parramatta City Library.
